  • Responsibilities

    We require an Aerospace Applications Engineering product designer and technical representative for our UK office for customer engagement to collect application details, create customer proposals and provide product support with the customers Engineering team.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     

    Completes own design projects for sealing and non-sealing applications as provided by the Aerospace Engineering Manager and Sales Engineers on the team, including - design proposals, drawings, material recommendations, project files and procedures for standard and custom products

     

    Provides technical assistance to external customers, sales manufacturing and quality.  Joins Sales Engineers at customer sites when required

     

    Completes reports on returned Greene, Tweed products in order to determine modes of failure and areas of improvement to be made and advises team members on design changes and other product improvements

     

    Develops and maintains technical and commercial awareness within the specific market supported by their relevant customers team, strengthening knowledge of all system solution and seal configuration designs and materials, and the limitations of each for all Greene, Tweed products as they relate to product liability

     

    Attends and participates in technical meetings and on committees as requested and where appropriate.  Represents Greene, Tweed in order to apply suitable input and controls on materials and parts specifications to ensure Greene, Tweed's best interests are maintained

     

    Assists Sales Coordinators with the sourcing of appropriate standard products, such as 'O' rings and 'T' seals, identifying correct material compounds and approved suppliers

     

    Reviews and verifies product design drawings in order to approve them as established product designs for use in the manufacturing of parts and in final part inspection 

    Required Skills

    An operational awareness of customers, industry business drivers and an appreciation for the impact of technical decisions and product selection on commercial opportunities

     

    An ability to understand cross functional interdependencies and to seek out input from other business functions an other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion

     

    Operational level technical presentation skills.  Ability to organise information and assemble supporting data in a format that communicates basic ideas and concepts in a logical sequence

     

    An understanding of 3D modelling techniques and tools and the ability to create moderately complex designs in SolidWorks.  Understands GD&T principals and can read and interpret production drawings.  An understanding of datum schemes and inspection methods.

     

    Ability to independently develop and coordinate appropriate and concise test plans based on internal/external requirements.  Ability to perform statistical data reduction and analysis of test data

     

    An understanding of the theory of traditional static and dynamic analysis and FEA methodologies.  Ability to perform detailed analysis using SolidWorks Simulation and Abaqus and create, run and debug FEA models

     

     

    Required Experience

    Design engineering experience related to Aerospace equipment and applications.  A working understanding of hydraulics used in Aerospace including actuation and landing gear systems

     

    BSc in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (preferred) or Chemical Engineering.  Masters level preferred
