    JOB SUMMARY:

    • Directs and coordinates the day-to-day shift activities, by providing leadership and supervision to subordinates. Serves as the link between direct reports and middle / upper management.

     

    JOB FUNCTIONS:

     

    • Acts as primary back up to the Department Manager
    • Supervises and facilitates the day-to-day shift activities of team.
    • Manages and oversees training assignments for all department employees and ensures timely completion
    • Utilizes knowledge and experience to provide training to team members.
    • Responsible for their individual performance.
    • Helps team achieve goals and has responsibility for personnel issues, including required discipline.
    • Oversees scheduling, material handling issues and maintenance, as well as resolving production problems.
    • Provides a communication network between direct reports and middle and upper management.
    • Works with employees to maintain a safe work environment.
    • Encourages and leads team members to work in a safe manner and to seek improvement in work practices for their benefit.
    • Develops and implements safety procedures and supports Safety Coordinator in achieving departmental and plant safety goals.
    • Assures that the team maintains quality standards.
    • Ensures that product quality, production efficiencies, and overall productivity meets or exceeds established standards, and is directly accountable for expenditures exceeding budgeted levels.
    • Strives to be technically proficient on the machinery in the department.
    • Provides assistance to the team in problem resolution and assures that testing and product development is carried out in a professional manner.
    • Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

    • 3-5 years of multiple color flexographic printing experience required.
    • Paperboard packaging experience preferred

    SKILLS

    • Leadership experience and/or attributes, including the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Basic computer skills, including email and data entry
    • Visual Color Discrimination, the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors

    EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma or GED

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Able to work 8 hours a day with frequent OT.
    • Sunday night - Thursday night 11pm - 7am.
    • Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
