Responsible for development phasing that controls the design process and provides baselines that coordinate design efforts. Developing a Systems Engineering process that provides a structure for solving design problems and tracking requirements flow through the design effort. Responsible for integrating life cycle that involves customers in the design process and ensures that the system developed is viable throughout its life. Originate and establish requirements flow down, elicitation, capture, subsequent dependent requirement derivation, traceability establishment, satisfaction determination, allocation to design, verification, integration validation, and management. Requirements management using IBM Rational DOORS preferred. Discipline specific Engineering Calculations, Engineering Evaluations, Operability Evaluations and Item Equivalencies. Develops technical solutions to complex problems, which require a high use of ingenuity and creativity. Perform other duties as directed. Specific Job Knowledge & Training Required The job related and nuclear experience requirements noted above are not a prerequisite for employment. These experience requirements can be satisfied based on experience obtained following employment. In the interim, until experience requirements are met, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2) * The position requires knowledge of systems engineering with a preferred knowledge in one of the following; manufacturing process equipment, industrial facility related systems. * The position requires the ability to perform technical analyses, calculations, and equipment component evaluations to support assigned equipment and departmental responsibilities. Education & Relevant Experience BS in engineering/science discipline. Bachelors degree in a STEM Discipline or higher. An advanced degree in Systems Engineering is preferred, combined with understanding and/or experience in manufacturing processes, equipment, facilities, or other complex systems and products desired. The applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., bachelors degree in engineering or related science, 2 years jobrelated and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). Notes: Eight or more years of relevant education, training, and/or progressive experience may be considered to satisfy educational and yearsofexperience requirements for this posting.
