    Job Description

     

    SUMMARY: The focus of the Document Control Specialist is to manage all aspects of the engineering design data lifecycle from checking functions to configuration management

     

    EDUCATION:

    • High School diploma/GED required.

    • Certification in a technical field or associates degree or higher, is preferred

    EXPERIENCE:

    3+ years experience in an engineering document control function in a manufacturing organization

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (THESE ARE THINGS THE CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS PRIOR TO BEING HIRED, I.E., COMPUTER SKILLS)

    · Knowledgeable of document control and configuration management functions and best practices

    · Experienced working within a Product Data Management (PDM) system. Knowledge of Synergis Adept is a plus

    · Proficient in working with an MRP system to set up, release and change management of engineering design data including part and assembly drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Knowledge of Epicor Avante MRP system is a plus

    · Proficient in reading, interpreting, and checking engineering drawings

    · Basic knowledge of SolidWorks CAD and Autodesk products- AutoCAD and Inventor. Having drafting skills is a plus

    · Knowledge of ASME 14.1 dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards, and application of best engineering practices

    · Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Standards for Document Control is a plus

    · Strong planning and organizational skills

    · Team player with strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrates a positive can-do attitude

    · Ability to work in a fast-paced cross-functional manufacturing organization, to multi-task, and balance priorities

    · Creative, independent, and detailed oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision

    · Highly accountable to self and others drives closure of tasks and completes quality work on time

    · Knowledge of MS Office applications including Outlook, WORD, Excel, and Access

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (LIST THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION, I.E., WHAT INCUMBENT IS REQUIRED TO DO, NOT HOW IT IS DONE)

    · Responsible for all aspects of Document Control, including but not limited to:

    o Managing, processing, distribution, and implementation of engineering design data- change requests, changes, and new releases (ECRs and ECOs)

    o Processing changes and new releases of company procedures and documentation

    o Utilizes the Change Control Process, PDM, and MRP systems to administer the document lifecycle. Offers recommendations for continuous improvement to processes and systems

    · Serves as engineering checker reviewing design data for accuracy, completeness, and application of drafting standards

    · Assists in providing training on the document control process

    · Performs administrative functions for the Engineering department, including compiling technical documentation and sending design data to customers, as required

    · Performs other duties as assigned
