The position of Human Resources Generalist is a key growth-based position within Pentagon Technologies, responsible for scaling and improving the human resources process, administration and functionality across the Companys US presence (HQ, plus three regional operations). Key near-term charters will be the standardization of HR processes and reporting across the organization, development of the employee relations functional capabilities and efficient management of recruitment activity. Where necessary this role will recommend, implement and execute to success processes that will reach 500+ Pentagon employees. The position is based at corporate headquarters in Hayward, CA and reports directly to David Havlik, Controller. Essential Responsibilities The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior Pentagon management in supporting their US-based operations. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: human resources metrics reporting, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department. * Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual. * Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems. * Performs reporting on the compensation program. * Performs benefits administration as necessary outside of the contracted services provided by Pentagons 3rd party benefits administrator. * Develops and maintains affirmative action program and maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations. * Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; and writes and places advertisements. * Handles employee relations counseling and exit interviewing. * Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars. * Maintains company organization charts and the employee directory. * Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of the human resources operation in relation to established goals and levels of competency. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the human resources operation and services performed. * Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports for the executive staff. * Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. Education and Human Resources-specific experience * A bachelors degree and a minimum of 3 - 5 years Human Resources administrative, coordinator or generalist experience. SHRM Certification is desired. Language skills * Excellent written and oral skills in English are required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate confidently, clearly and effectively to various audiences, from line employees to C-level management is mandatory. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work * This is a full-time, salaried position. Days and hours of work will be Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Physical demands of the position * Must be able to pass any applicable company required drug screening tests. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand, reach with hands and arms and perform light routine office work, which includes computer workstation usage. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Work environment characteristics * Must be able to work in a group office and chemical processing plant environment. * This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones. Travel * Little to no travel (< 10%) is expected for this position.
