    Sales Applications Specialist, Pump Solutions North Central USA Job Description: Pentair currently has an opening for a technical professional to join our Flow Technologies team as a Field Applications Specialist based in the North Central USA Region. In this role, the Field Applications Specialist will be responsible for interacting with Dealers & Installers to drive profitable new business as well as expanding current relationships: Field Application Specialists are expected to sell, provide technical expertise, train, and manage the Dealer and Installer customer base. We prefer this person to be based out of the Kansas City area, but will consider alternative locations within the region (which includes MO, KC, and NE). You will: * Develop a strong technical understanding of our Flow Technologies products across the entire Professional channel / portfolio and our Value-Added Proposition (i.e. how they address customer needs). * Direct the analysis of customer specifications to determine proper platform and accessories required with regards to drives. * Meet with customers, as-needed, to convert customer concepts/designs into workable product solutions. * Provide expertise / recommend solutions to application & performance problems related to pumps in the field. * Build relationships with key Dealers and influence sales of Pentair products & services. * Promote Pentairs products & brands effectively utilizing marketing programs, leveraging field resources, as well as distributor & end-user product trainings. * In partnership with the Territory Sales Managers, identify growth opportunities through management & execution of an opportunity funnel or action plan. * Hold regular technical presentations, training seminars, and provide on-site support when needed. * Communicate customer feedback for future product developments. * Travel daily to meet with distributors & customers, attend events, etc. (local and overnight travel is required; 50% travel is expected at a minimum). * Perform additional duties, as assigned. You should: * Have earned at least a Bachelor's Degree (e.g. B.A. or B.S.). * Have at least 3 years of professional experience working with Sales, Engineering, Field Service, and/or Installation of technical products. * Demonstrate excellent communication skills (written & verbal). We like, but dont require: * Completion of technical coursework; Bachelors degree in an Engineering field of study if a plus. * Deep experience working with pumps and/or mechanical rotating equipment; hands-on experience working with water pumps, well pumps, and/or irrigation pumps is a plus. * Hands-on skills with electrical and mechanical systems; advanced understanding of drives (especially VFDs) is a plus. * Understanding of Residential and/or Commercial Irrigation markets experience working with skilled trades service providers (e.g. Plumbers, General Contractors, Construction, etc.) as well as homeowners is a plus. * Understanding of channel sales models, especially with both Distributors & Dealers, is a plus. * Proven ability to handle multiple priorities, organize, plan, meet difficult deadlines, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. * Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, follow-up, and documentation skills. * Proven ability to make group presentations. * Demonstrated ability to be a goal-oriented, high energy self-starter who meets and exceeds goals / targets. * Above-average proficiency in relevant software programs (e.g. MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), CRM (Salesforce.com is preferred), etc.).
