    SLS-Chemist United States - Illinois - Lake Forest/en-US/PfizerCareers/job/United-States---Illinois---Lake-Forest/SLS-Chemist_4697708/apply ROLE SUMMARY Scientific and Laboratory Services Lake Forest Chemical Quality (SLS-CQ) laboratory tests L-Hospira product on stability as well as some release testing and other unique stability studies.nbsp; This individual will be required to perform wet chemical techniques including visual evaluation, titrations, UV/Vis, pH.nbsp; This position would be proficient at complex chromatographic methods (including HPLC and GC).nbsp; This individual may also perform some simple instrumental methods which may include polarimetry, AA or other methodologies.nbsp; This individual will also be responsible for performing test method transfers and contributing to instrument qualification/calibration activities.nbsp; This individual will be responsible for preparing solutions, performing analyses, as well as recording and processing data according to cGMP, DEA, FDA and ICH guidelines as needed. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibility of this role includes using Functional/Technical skills to perform analytical testing and data processing in accordance with procedure, regulatory guidelines (FDA, MHRA, TGA, ICH, and DEA).nbsp; nbsp;This individual will perform and troubleshoot complex HPLC testing as well as wet chemical techniques and simple instrumental analysis including visual evaluation, titration, UV/Vis and pH.nbsp; This may also include AA, GC and/or other methodologies. This individual will need to seize accountability by assuring accurate laboratory records are kept in accordance with procedures and cGMPs.nbsp; This individual will also perform peer review of laboratory notebooks.nbsp; This individual completes testing with consideration of optimal efficiency and test turnaround requirements with minimal supervision.nbsp; * This individual will need to be Change Agile to accommodate potential testing schedule changes to meet business needs and departmental turnaround goals.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;This individual will also need to perform duties associated with day-to day laboratory operations including sample receipt/disposal, waste disposal, facility checks, and other activities to apply 5s principles.nbsp; * This individual will mentor other lab analysts in the team by assisting them in development of skills required to perform more complex methodologies including HPLC.nbsp; * This individual must also follow safety rules and requirements by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, follow proper chemical handling and disposal procedures and maintain an orderly work area.nbsp; QUALIFICATIONS * This individual must have a Bachelors degree in science discipline (preferably chemistry, biochemistry or biology).nbsp; * This individual should have a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a Quality Control or Ramp;D laboratory.nbsp; Experience with a wide variety of analytical techniques (e.g. HPLC, GC, AA, UV-Vis, etc.) is desired.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; * Knowledge of cGMPs and pharmaceutical regulations, LIMS, Empower, and Microsoft Office is desired. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS This individual will be expected to work in the laboratory performing testing as well as desk work when documenting or calculating data.nbsp;nbsp; This will involve standing for long periods, handling of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, wearing of personal protective equipment (lab coat, safety glasses, closed toe shoes, gloves, and potentially respirator).nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; This individual will be expected to lift approximately 20 lbs. on an occasional basis.nbsp;This individual will need to follow written procedures and perform mathematical calculations.nbsp; NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS * The typical work schedule is 1st shift, Monday-Friday.nbsp; Overtime should not be used unless there are business critical needs and management pre-approval is obtained.nbsp; * This individual will be required to wear a lab coat, closed toe shoes, protective gloves and safety glasses when entering the laboratory.nbsp; * This individual may also be required to wear a respirator.
