Phillips 66 & YOU- Together we can fuel the future Description The Operator Intern will participate in the Borger Refinery Process Technology Student Internship Program which provides opportunities for career success through hands-on learning experiences. Students apply subject matter knowledge learned in a certificate or associate program to the workplace and develop technical and interpersonal skills in the workplace. It is important for student interns to participate as contributing and active members of their craft or operations team. Interns are expected to effectively communicate with all levels of the team and to ask questions that facilitate learning while respecting the professional demands and experience of their co-workers. The regular work schedule will be 40 hours per week, 8-hour workdays, Monday Friday, with no overtime. * Interns will be classified as non-represented temporary employees and will be paid $20/hour. * Interns will be assigned a mentor and will receive training, experience and work responsibilities in their craft or in operations. * Interns are expected to actively participate in their respective Craft or Operations team and participate in conversations and ask questions to develop personal learning and gain workplace experience. * Participation in or completion of an internship does not guarantee future regular full-time employment with Phillips 66. * Before an intern begins their role in the field they will receive some basic orientation that includes some HR and Safety related topics. A training plan with the internship requirements will also be covered for each Craft and the Operations internship. Responsibilities may include : * Shadow and support experienced employees while effectively following all safety, health, environmental, maintenance, and operation practices and procedures. * Learn about health, safety and environmental hazards * Witness the work authorization permit system * Witness energy isolation (e.g. Lock, Tag & Try) * Learn how to recognize and report incidents and near-misses * In addition to the above, the Process Technology intern may: * Learn about the overall process unit they are assigned * Make rounds along with a qualified Operator or Stillman and may be asked to assist in taking readings * Monitor normal operational conditions * In addition to the above, the Craft intern may: * Attend daily crew meetings * Learn how to apply craft skills in the refinery * Witness work being performed by experienced craftsman based off of weekly maintenance work schedule * While learning on the job (and practicing when possible), students are expected to: * Stop unsafe work or practices * Demonstrate work-related knowledge * Work well on diverse teams * Effectively use multiple information sources * Demonstrate cooperative and active participation in activities * Show a willingness and enthusiasm to learn Qualifications Basic/Required : * Legally authorized to work in the job posting country * Currently enrolled in a Process Technology certificate program with completion of the following classes: * Introduction to Process Technology * Process Technology I & II * Safety, Health and Environment * Completed a minimum of 12 hours in the enrolled program * Must maintain a valid drivers license * Accumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale * Written letter of recommendation from an instructor Preferred : * Currently enrolled at Frank Phillips College Competencies At Phillips 66, while "what" we do may be very different from person to person, there's a "how" that connects all of us.
