Industrial IoT/Big Data Intern Job Description Pioneer Energy is currently seeking an Industrial IoT/Big Data Intern in the Rocky Mountain Region for a summer internship. SummaryResponsible for working with the Process Control and Field Operations departments at Pioneer Energy to implement and maintain various remote data applications. Activities will involve PLC programming, IT device configuration, HMI programming, and Python scripting. This position has the potential to touch on all the big technology trends including IoT devices, big data analytics, and machine learning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Cataloging hardware assets and associated data into the software architecture. * Programming basic and advanced features for a real world distributed controls system.. * Reads and understands APIs from select tools to incorporate into the main architecture. * Contributes to real-time monitoring of network assets for reporting when critical infrastructure components lose connectivity.
    • Assists in configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of a of global hub-and-spoke wireless machine network via VPN tunnels with an emphasis on communication redundancies and maximum network uptime. * Identifies and automates repetitive tasks within the corporate information workflows. Core DutiesThe candidates primary responsibility will be familiarizing themself with industrial process control principles and practices. Pioneer Energy currently builds and operates the FlareCatcher and VaporCatcher natural gas processing platforms. These industrial skids are deployed on remote domestic and international oil & gas sites. Each skid streams more than two hundred data points back to our control room at headquarters. Capturing, storing, and acting on this data is a core organizational value. Intermittent ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate should be able to contribute to generating and maintaining documentation across the organization. This includes information workflows, software flow charts, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Trips to operational machines in the field will be available from time to time. Working ConditionsThe intern will be based at the main office in Lakewood, CO. Working remotely isnt consistent with our company culture. Work EnvironmentIndoor office environment. Start DateImmediate Employment StatusHourly Wage$12/hr Skills Required Qualifications * Familiarity with modern computer scripting languages, preferably including: * Connectivity libraries: sockets, requests, web services, and REST APIs * Statistical data processing libraries * Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems * A working knowledge of common IT components: routers, switches, radios, antennas, cables, and VPN routers. Desired Qualifications * Programming experience with a variety of languages is helpful, including Visual Basic, SQL, NoSQL, ladder logic, LabView, and flowchart-based languages. * Basic math skills and the ability to work with spreadsheets is desired. * Prior experience with industrial data systems, including data historians, OPC servers, and human-machine interface (HMI) platforms. * Knowledge of chemical processing and/or oil and gas processing is a plus.
