    Job Description

    The selected Human Resources Manager oversees human resources policies and activities at the regional level including but not limited to Ethics, EEO Compliance, Recruiting and Selection, Compensation, Benefits, Employee Services, Training and Development, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Rules and Discipline, Employment Statistics Reporting, Facility Security, and Communications. Will be responsible for 2 plants.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Advises on and implements company human resources policies and guidelines to meet organizational needs and to comply with state and federal laws.
    • Performs recruiting activities: sourcing, interviewing, and evaluating applicants for plant positions, with the goal of timely staffing of all vacant positions. Maintains records of recruiting activities and follows steps in compliance to the company recruiting guidelines. Conducts employment interviews with the goal of assessing qualifications and communicating company expectations, job benefits, and working conditions.
    • Conducts new plant and office employee orientations to ensure recent hires gain an understanding of rules, policies, quality system provisions, benefit plans and enrollment provisions. Counsels employees (and potential employees/applicants) on benefit plan provisions so that the individuals can make informed benefit decisions.
    • Maintains health and welfare records including annual and new employee enrollments, changes, and terminations. Updates HR Benefit data base. Processes enrollments and other required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions. Communicates information regarding insurance plans and options to employees.
    • Enters data into the HRIS, in a timely fashion, to insure that employee records are up-to-date and accurate.
    • Provides advice and guidance to managers on compliance issues, employee development, employee relations, discipline, and terminations.
    • Works with management in negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements. Processes grievances as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
    • Maintains close relationship with hourly employees and ensures positive employee relations.
    • Assists in assembling the annual Affirmative Action Plan for the locations. Helps prepare government reports related to EEO compliance. Posts required annual notices.
    • Evaluates the need for and develops, delivers and/or coordinates employee skill training to ensure that the workforce is capable of performing at an effective and efficient level.
    • Analyzes trends at the location in turnover, hiring, promotions, separations, and grievances to determine action needed to adjust unfavorable trends. Keeps management advised of potential problem areas and recommends and implements solutions as appropriate.
    • Works closely with payroll to ensure understanding and compliance with benefits and human resources policies, and state and federal regulations.
    • Coordinates with managers and payroll on administering any gain sharing or other such hourly incentive plans.
    • Processes and administers all leave of absence requests and disability paperwork.
    • Administers the Plant Attendance Policy and partners with the plant management to monitor infractions.
    • Administers and supports the Performance Management Process.
    • Investigates and responds to EEOC charges and Ethics hotline calls when necessary.
    • Coordinates employee relations activities and wellness initiatives for the regional locations.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
    • Minimum of five years’ experience in employee relations with experience in unionized facilities strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, (specifically Excel) and the ability to learn and manage the HRIS hands-on.
    • Ability to work with and deal ethically and effectively with all levels within the Company and outside Government and private agents.
    • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to present detailed information in a systematic, concise and understandable manner.
    • Ability to travel 25%
