    WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

    The Process Engineer II is responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing cost-effective manufacturing processes that align with product specifications, quality standards, and business goals. Acting as a critical link between R&D, engineering, and operations, this role drives new product development, process innovation, and continuous improvement. With hands-on experience in wet coating and lamination, the engineer enhances productivity, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and supports the company’s growth and operational excellence initiatives.

    Essential Functions:

    Product & Process Development

    • Lead the design, development, testing, and integration of advanced coating, lamination, and converting products.
    • Assist in defining and designing complex coating and lamination products.
    • Collaborate with Marketing, R&D, and Production to develop, test, and integrate new products, prototypes, and materials into manufacturing.
    • Contribute to technical innovation through the submission of technical papers, patents, and proposals.

    Project & Process Management

    • Manage multiple process engineering projects, ensuring timely execution and effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Identify, develop, and implement process or equipment changes (including CAPEX projects) to improve product quality, consistency, yield, and throughput.
    • Participate in cost control programs, process standardization, and the evolution of existing product families.

    Quality & Continuous Improvement

    • Qualify and standardize raw materials and process targets.
    • Plan and safely execute trials and implement new procedures (e.g., sputtering systems).
    • Perform root cause analysis and statistical evaluations of process variables, defects, and rejection rates.
    • Lead process and product improvement initiatives based on analytical findings.
    • Establish and maintain quality and process control procedures in compliance with ISO9001.
    • Apply lean manufacturing principles (e.g., SPC, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma) to drive continuous improvement.

    Technical Leadership & Training

    • Serve as a technical expert, applying multidisciplinary engineering principles to enhance production and resolve issues related to quality, performance, and cost.
    • Train operators, technicians, and team members on new processes, configurations, and safety practices.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork and empower staff in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) efforts.

    Communication & Reporting

    • Communicate project updates, results, and recommendations to stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
    • Oversee financial aspects of production processes, including process variance control, BOM management, WCM project savings, and product standard costing.

    Requirements:

    • This position requires the skills associated with a Master of Science Degree in Polymer Processing, Chemical or Mechanical engineering discipline plus 0-2 years of relevant industry experience (including internships, co‑ops, or thesis/project work). or the skills associated with a Bachelor of Science Degree and 2-4 years of experience.
    • Strong analytical, statistical and root cause analysis skills a must
    • Experience with solvent mixing, coating, lamination, and converting processes and equipment is required.
    • Past experience with SPC and familiarity with 5S, Kaizen and Lean manufacturing principles strongly preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills and the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and with customers are necessary.

    BENEFITS IN JOINING US

    Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $79,500 to $123,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

    In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is TARGET BONUS% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $87,400 to $135,800. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
