Eaton’s ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Project Engineer. This role will be located in Highland IL and Syracuse NY.

Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The expected annual salary for this role is $72,000 (bachelor's degree) with a one-time $6,000 sign on bonus.

What you’ll do:

Job Summary

As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and designing new products that will penetrate the national and international markets. This role will also require you to work cross-functionally with other business areas including Marketing, Sales, and Operations. It will require you to have strong communication skills, ambition, drive, strong engineering methodology, to drive product design. The position responsibilities also entail current product sustainment and execution of cost savings initiatives through Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE).

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution, with graduation date no later than August 2024.
• Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8
• Minimum of one internship/co-op experience or an equivalent of 3 months of electrical experience completed at the time of this application.
• Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution, with graduation date no later than August 2024.
• Understanding of phase gate project development.
• Experience in CAD/Solid works modeling and the ability to develop 2D drawings.
• Experience performing various engineering tests and analyzing results.
• Experience working in a global business environment.
• Knowledge using SAP.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Voice of the Customer (VOC) experience.
• Experience in steel, iron and aluminum casting product design.
• Experience in sheet metal stamping and designing spring steel products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to work in a virtual environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Position Criteria

• Assumes accountability for projects assigned.
• Effectively communicates across the project team, to their immediate managers and to external counterparts, e.g. customers or suppliers.
• Participate in Voice of the Customer (VOC) product and requirements research
• Maintain and upgrade existing products
• Assist with 3rd party certifications
• Develop and test prototypes for new product ideas
• Create new product specifications
• Create and maintain project development plans
• Ensure timely completion to project commitment dates
• Create and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
• Identify and execute cost out projects to drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE)
• Hands on testing of products, design validation, detail design, and drawing review
