    Position Summary:

    As a Project Engineering Intern for the Civil engine programs (RB211-535, RB211-524, Trent 800, AE 3007, and AE 2100A) at Rolls-Royce Corporation, you’ll play an important role by applying systems engineering and development skills. These mature engines are key revenue drivers for Rolls-Royce, with large installed fleets in operation worldwide. To help maximize profit and customer satisfaction, the Civil Engineering team supports safety, reliability, repair, maintenance, overhaul, design and performance for these engines. Projects may include cost reduction initiatives, safety and reliability investigations, resolving non-conformances through design changes, implementing risk-reduction design improvements and supporting sustainability enhancements.

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Serving as the technical point of contact for Civil engine models both externally to airframers and customers and internally to program management and other functions

    • Leading multiple technical projects, including execution of internal processes such as Product Change Board (PCB) and Integration Approval (IA)

    • Representing the engine program in external technical meetings with customers, operators and airworthiness authorities

    • Identifying engine-level technical and program risks and creating and managing corresponding risk mitigation plans

    • Identifying and prioritizing engineering product and service improvement projects and developing and communicating plans and budgets to deliver these improvements on time and within cost

    • Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking abilities

    • Good written and oral communication to a variety of audiences

    • Proficient at writing technical reports and customer presentations

    • Excellent project and time management skills

    • Demonstrable understanding of program/value stream process

    Relevant majors:

    Mechanical, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering.

    Standing/Graduation eligibility: Must be attending a 4-year university and returning to school after the internship.

    Minimum GPA: 3.0

    Preferred qualifications (but not required):

    • Understanding and experience with CAD preferred but not required

    • Experience in a service or maintenance environment

    • Experience with significant data management

    • Prior manufacturing, design, service internship/co-op preferred but not required
