Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Evaluates grains and ceramic products’ physical dimensions, weights, contaminations, visual & surface color, particle size, smoothness, uniformity and apply testing procedures to make final determination on their acceptance or rejection.

Skills

• Check arriving materials to ensure that they match purchase orders specs, determines conformance with company standards.
• Knowledge of products and material characteristics to grade, classify, and sort products/material according to sizes, weights, density, or other specifications with charts, templates, or take samples to verify conformance to standards.
• Knowledge of moderately complex equipment used for measuring, weighing and verifying if parts or particles are conforming to customer specifications; uses measuring instruments such as, water tanks / wax for density test, verniers, rulers, calipers, scales, tape measure, gauges, CMM, micrometers, particle size analyzer, laser scattering etc.
• Directs, cleans, maintains, repairs, and calibrates measuring instruments and test equipment such as dial indicators, fixed gauges, and height gauges to ensure reliable & validated. Make adjustments or obtain repairs to equipment.
• Analyzes and interprets blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
• Records inspection or test data in software or data base, such as weights, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected.
• Supports World Class Manufacturing activities including autonomous work teams.
• You may be required to be trained in additional duties and responsibilities to support business demands

Physical Demands Efforts

• May carry objects of varying weights, sizes, and shapes. Normally (80%) moderate physical exertion is expended to handle product / material that is less than 25 pounds.
• Occasionally (20%) handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds requiring moving short distances in the lab to place on measuring surfaces, for bagging operations, cleaning and transportation to next step.
• Frequently required to push, reach, walk, stand, and bend while measuring or inspecting parts/material.

Mental & Visual Demands

• Sound and continuous use of memory, judgment, and ingenuity to disposition parts/materials although can be frequent repetitive work (many parts, same measurement) Constant alertness or activity, dependent on degree of inspection requirements

Required Qualifications

• Requires 3 to 5 years in a related manufacturing operation obtaining general factory skills. Requires 10-12 months' work experience to become proficient in all phases of the job to work independently.

Additional Description

• HS or trade school diploma, moderate computer application skills, formal licenses may be required in some QC jobs such as IPV license.
