Job Title: Mechatronics Apprentice Business Area: Production Support - Skilled Trades Workweek:Varies depending on class schedule Location: Versailles, KY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports To: Maintenance Manager or Lead person Collaborates With: Production Support (Electrical, Mechanical & Maintenance), Manufacturing/Production departments (Press, Finishing, etc.) and IT. Direct Reports: None GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB Quad/Graphics is seeking Mechatronics Apprentices for the Versailles, Kentucky location. The Mechatronics Registered Apprenticeship is a 5-year program that combines 10,000 hours of on-the-job training and paid related instruction at an approved College, in both Electrical and Mechanical competencies. Upon successful completion of the program, Apprentices will receive a State of Kentucky Certificate of Apprenticeship for Mechatronics. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES While in the plant, Mechatronic Apprentices will be responsible for assisting with the installation, servicing and troubleshooting of production and support equipment. This position may include rotations through various maintenance departments, project support, preventative, and predictive maintenance. Key areas of learning: * Safety * Installation of Electrical and Mechanical equipment * Maintaining of Mechanical equipment * Troubleshooting of Mechatronic Systems * Operation of Machine Shop equipment and tools * Welding and fabrication of various parts * Maintaining of systems (i.e., Automation Systems) * Modification of systems and devices * Maintaining documents and records * Other, based on local specifications POSITION REQUIREMENTS Job: * Complete the 5-year program requirements as stated in the Apprenticeship Contract (10,000 hours of On-the-Job training, 864 hours of Related Technical Instruction). * Complete Transition-to-Trainer course in final year of program Education: * High school diploma or equivalent is required as Apprentices will be required to complete a standard admissions assessment at an approved technical college. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: * Strong verbal and written comprehension, with the ability to thrive in a team environment and work well under supervision. * The ability to work responsibly in a variety of environments including heights up to 50 feet, hot/cold temperatures and tight and/or confined spaces, is required. * Mechanical aptitude, strong math skills and basic computer skills, are highly desirable. * Experience or exposure in an Advanced Manufacturing environment or recent skilled-trade related classes, preferred, but not required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Responsibly work in a variety of environments including; heights of up 50 feet, hot/cold temperatures and tight and/or confined spaces.
