    OVERVIEW:

    The Quality Technician - 3rd Shift will be primary contact for customer return and warranty issues.  Quality in-process, final inspection, and testing at various stages of the product life cycle.  This responsibility includes the comparison of product to specifications and meeting the needs of the customer.  This position has responsibility for quality goals:  cost of poor quality, PPM, and MUI measurements and will focus on prevention.  This position will have communication necessary to insure customer satisfaction both internal and external to The Gates Corporation.  Also, communicates with corporate groups such as Technical Service, Product Control, Customer Order Service, Quality Management and divisional leaders.  Technicians will have regular contact with customers related to product performance.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

    • 35% - Performs quality control tests/inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc. at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards.
    • 15% - Records statistical data.
    • 15% - Analyzes data and writes summaries to validate or show deviations from existing standards.
    • 20% -- Recommends modifications to existing, or suggest new, standards, methods and procedures.
    • 15% - Other tasks or duties as assigned.

    EXPERIENCE:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

     

    Knowledge of the hose manufacturing and coupled assembly process helpful but not required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   They include but are not limited to:  Moderate lifting, 15-44 pounds; moderate carrying, 15-44 pounds; reaching above shoulders; walking (8 hours); standing (8 hours), kneeling and repeated bending.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS: 

    • Experience reading blueprints, process problem solving and error proofing.
    • Solid knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
    • Candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    EDUCATION:

    High School with 5 years general, 2 years specific experience; or 2 years college (Associate Degree) with 1 years specific experience
