    Position requires working independently in a fast-paced computing environment, responding to the needs of RRD clients for automated data processing, management, database and reporting. Apply knowledge of business and technology to allow for the development of integrated solutions to satisfy company and customer business objectives. Serve as a liaison between customers and functional staff including database and offshore resources.


    The business analyst participates in all phases of customer onboarding projects following a structured waterfall, agile or hybrid methodology. Create requirements from the customer and business perspective, translated into easily understood department formats that are acted upon by the various technical design and development teams.

    Responsibilities

    • Actively participate and interact with customers to understand business needs, identify the best solution and provide assistance to understanding the appropriate architecture of the process flow.
    • Assist in the analysis and design of new business processes around requirements definition, information gathering, and consistent documentation methodologies.
    • Make recommendations regarding the standardization of requirements methodology to reduce cost, improve productivity, improve quality, predictability and timeliness, reduce risk, improve cross-group coordination, improve skills and improve customer and associate satisfaction.
    • Work closely with the data processing analysts, technical development analysts, solution architect, database developers, and offshore resources to design the process that meets customer objectives in the most efficient way possible.
    • Perform project management duties as necessary including facilitating meetings, webinars, drafting meeting minutes and maintain project plans.
    • Have a good understanding of the purpose and components of documentation tools including Request for Proposal (RFP/RFI), Statement of Work (SOW), User Requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Specifications (FS), sFTP/API diagramming, ER Diagrams, Data Dictionaries, Record Layouts, Database Work Orders, Process Change Requests (PCR), ServiceNow and other communication tools.
    • Using multiple information gathering techniques, conduct facilitated scoping sessions with customers to define detailed business requirements for solution development.
    • Develop clear and concise functional requirements for the technical developers that are free from ambiguity to minimize re-work and errors. Recognize the business’s needs and the implications of change.
    • Function as a quality assurance tester for database team and technical development analysts.
    • Continue to build on technical and business knowledge. Seek out innovations in process improvement, better utilization of resources, product enhancements.
    • May be asked to monitor daily throughput of existing systems to make sure QC and deliverables have been met.
    • Participates in the hiring process, conducts technical reviews and contributes to overall evaluation of candidates. Mentor new hires and less experienced business analysts.
    • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

    • Able to apply functional computer knowledge in utilizing SQL, Windows, automation, FTP, server connectivity or other technical tools in completing assignments.
    • May require knowledge of or ability to quickly learn specialized software to complete work assignments.
    • Requires excellent communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear and concise way. Able to explain programs, policies and procedures in a manner that is understood by others. .
    • Must be able to modify communication style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience targeted. Requires strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or discipline related to functional work or role with 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
    • Functional working experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Access, MS Project, Visio and PowerPoint.
    • Functional working experience with applicable tools to validate input data files, run frequency counts, validate output.
    • Conceptual knowledge of engagement methodology such as Waterfall, Agile or Hybrid.

    The national pay range for this role is $73,800 to $129,900 / year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
