To help us drive excellence, you’ll get to:
- Maintain or improve upon all hardware required for controls systems located on facility floor.
- Complete design of electrical systems including creation of electrical schmatics using AutoCAD for new and retrofit welding and assembly equipment.
- Troubleshoot, support, and program complete PLC and HMI programs located in equipment on the facility floor.
- Support motor drive configuration for servo, variable frequency and DC systems.
- Understand and support robotic programming located in equipment on the facility floor. (Motoman and Fanuc Arc Welding and Spot Welding)
- Team with other Engineers in specifying ancillary robotic welding equipment including weld guns, torches, cabling, dress out, tool changes, tip dressers, and torch cleaners.
- Use computer-based Engineering software and equipment" (PLC and HMI base programs, PC based programs, CAD programs).
- Evaluate and apply new technology as required.
- Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Test suspect control or electrical devices for failures.
This full-time, salary role is part of our Clinton team, and reports to the Facilities Maintenance Manager .
Required experience:
- Engineering degree or equivalent work experience as Controls Technician in manufacturing.
- 2 internships- 1 yr as Controls Engineer in manufacturing; automotive industry a plus.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting electrical controls systems with PLC and HMI programs.
- Adaptive to a fast-paced manufacturing enviroment; automotive industry a plus.
- Self-starter and ability to work productively in troubleshooting and supporting PLC and HMI programs and other machine control devices.
- Abilty to learn, understand and apply corporate standards for equipment and tooling.
- Hands-on mentality in supporting robotics equipment on the Plant floor.
- Ability and willingness to expand mechanical and electrical engineering skills.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient with MSOffice, PLC, HMI and other CAD programs.
