POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager will lead the month-end close for hub or group of plants. He/she will oversee accountants to ensure completion of ledger accounts and financial statements and financial information is reported accurately and in the proper period. They will be responsible for compliance to US GAAP, Internal Controls and corporate guidelines and processes established by RRD. Evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization. In addition, he/she will drive special projects needed for process improvements and efficiencies and ensures existing processes and reporting are updated for changes in the business and structure.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Journal entries for complex/material accounts
Balance sheet reconciliations
Balance sheet analysis
Internal Controls, processes and procedures
Compliance – checklists, signoffs, reviews, close checklists
Audit
Business Reviews for explanation of actual results
Owns month-end close and reporting of financial result
Review and communicate top customer reporting and other monthly reporting of actual results
Analyze accounts, records, reports, accounts receivable and payable. Journal vouchers, general and subsidiary ledgers and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness
Investigate and resolve accounting problems for the area of responsibility
Ensures proper retention, filing, and handling of accounting records
Ensures the billing process is completed on a timely, accurate basis in accordance with RRD’s revenue recognition policies.
Supervises accounting staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manger.
Understands risk management program, including types of business insurance coverage.
Identifies and coordinates any business insurance claims.
Signs off on key/material JE’s
Signs off on key/material balance sheet reconciliations
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.
CPA/MBA is strongly preferred.
Prior Accounting supervisory experience is required.
Experience in a manufacturing profit center environment is strongly preferred.
SAP or other ERP/Accounting software system is required.
Highly proficient in Microsoft products and other applicable accounting and financial systems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
