    SPECIFIC JOB TITLE:  PART-TIME SOCIAL MEDIA ASSISTANT 

      

    CAMPUS:  MANHATTAN 

     

     

    JOB SUMMARY:  

    Under the supervision of the Director of the Davis Library will assist the Director of Communications and Marketing, Tobin College of Business, and the Davis Library director in a manner that supports GSRM and its constituents’ social media goals and initiatives. This is not a supervisory position. 

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    • Schedule, edit, upload and update content for GSRM subdivisions through social media management platforms/channels. 
    • Review all content for consistency in messaging, fixing errors when found, across the different social media platforms/channels and eliminate redundant or dated content when necessary. 
    • Knowledge of social media marketing strategies. 
    • Develop social media calendar for upcoming events and scheduling social media posts and solicits content from the different GSRM constituents. 
    • Assists with online marketing of events in GSRM. 
    • Conduct regular assessments to report updates, issues, and opportunities as identified through platform/channel analytics and GSRM constituents’ feedback. 
    • Communicate ongoing social media needs with the Director of Communications and Marketing. 
    • Migrate digital content as necessary. 
    • Assist in the production, editing, and proofreading of social media posts, and electronic newsletters, reports, flyers, etc. produced by GSRM constituents. 
    • Assist in maintaining consistent SJU, Tobin College and GSRM branding and tone ensuring all content is consistent with established standards and relevant across posts and electronic documents. 
    • Other related duties as assigned.

     

     

    COMPETENCIES: 

    Required 

    1. Strong computer skills including proficiency in the use of the following computer programs (Microsoft Office) for: word processing, databases, spreadsheets, Outlook e-mail, internet, and electronic document management. 
    2. Knowledge managing social media platform/channels, and social media functions: hashtags, posting and sharing posts, retweets, favorites, pinning, tagging, and influencers. 
    3. Familiarity with SEO (Search engine optimization), social media and internet marketing industry trends, developments, and best practices. 
    4. Experience with electronic and wireless communications to send email, transmit work, review copy, and proof online. 
    5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to write effectively under deadline for a variety of purposes, goals, audiences, and media. 
    6. Flexibility to work independently as well as in a team environment. 
    7. Attention to detail, organized, self-motivated, exceptional time management, and adaptable to changing communications needs. 
    8. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
    9. Ability to gather and interpret social media data, problem-solve, and suggest process improvements.

     

     

    Preferred 

    1. Basic knowledge of risk management, insurance and/or actuarial science.

     

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: 

    This position does NOT manage employees and is NOT responsible for the hiring and performance management of the employees within that department. 

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT 

    This position operates 90% in a virtual professional environment and 10% in a professional office environment. 

    This position is required to use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc. 

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

    Continuously requires vision, hearing, talking, and fine dexterity. Frequently requires sitting and standing. Occasionally requires pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, walking, and carrying. Rarely requires bending, crouching, kneeling, twisting, lifting, climbing, and foot controls. 

     

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: 

    This is a part-time expected to work 13 hours a week, between Monday and Friday during 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at mutual convenience. 

     

    TRAVEL:

    No travel is required. 

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

    Bachelor’s degree required in English, journalism, marketing, advertisement, or communications-related field and up to two (2) years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Qualifications
    • Must be skilled in a variety of difficult manipulative and mechanical procedures necessary to perform setups, adjustments, operations and maintenance procedures on multiple presses to produce single-color, two-color, and multicolor work.
    • Requires thorough knowledge of flexographic printing procedures, materials, equipment and safety requirements and skills to perform assignments.   
    • Skill to read and understand job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully. 
    • Able to read and interpret work instructions. Read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work. Able to communicate effectively in writing using proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
    • Must have thorough knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate use of the press and corrective adjustments required to run efficiently. 
    • Knowledge of the appropriate amount of pressure needed to obtain the proper printing impression for the type of job being run. 
    • Skill in use of ruler, PMS guides and other typical printing job aids to ensure consistent quality is maintained. 
    • Intermediate understanding of computer and computer skills given newer equipment operating systems including cameras, drives and imaging systems.
    • Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
    • Able to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric procedures in standard practical applications.
    • Ability to operate a computer at an intermediate level.
    • Able to work independently and/or as part of a team.
    • Punctual, regular attendance is an essential job function of employment with RR Donnelley.
    • Overtime, including weekend work, is considered a condition of employment.
    • 2 – 5 plus Previous Flexographic experience operating a press in a label printing environment required.
    • Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; ability to distinguish color variation
    • Two-handed operation required to operate STOP/Safe
    • Must have good eye/hand coordination.
