  • Responsibilities

    Performs manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples, components and finished products mailed primarily through FedEx, UPS, USPS or other similar carrier. 

    May perform duties related to receipt of materials, supplies, equipment and finished products. 

    Maintain necessary files and documentation.  

    Utilize small hand tools and operates material handling equipment including forklifts, skids, pallet handlers, hand trucks, etc. to stage materials. 

    Typical shipping activities include checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations, packing goods for shipment according to specifications, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges, and attaching information and shipping instructions on boxes/skids.  

    Typical receiving activities include taking receipt of raw materials, components or equipment and unload from trucks primarily using a forklift truck and pallet jacks.  Check incoming materials against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., identification and quantity of the materials, maintaining records of goods received; rejects damaged, excess or misdirected goods.  May require operation of a pick truck.

    Follow detailed procedures to perform routine packing work.  Pick, hand collate and insert a variety of printed materials or print related items into packages that require a variety of packing procedures and techniques.

    Required Skills

    High School/GED or equivalent experience in a warehouse environment.

    Skill in reading specifications and identifying the correct components for fulfilling customer orders.

    Excellent knowledge of routine and non-routine packing procedures, techniques, equipment and basic warehouse procedures.

    May require skill in using heat sealers, cutters, hand and power tools.

    Demonstrated ability completing manual and computerized forms and shipping documents.

    Requires use of basic arithmetic and standard formulas to determine size and volume of packing containers and materials.

    Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

    Must be able to read and interpret documents to include job tickets, mailing specifications, shipping codes, safety rules, procedure manuals, critical numbering system and work orders.

    Must be able to work overtime, as scheduled.

    Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

     

     

     

    Required Experience

    Minimum 2 years shipping experience processing shipments via various carriers and methods (i.e.  Fedex, UPS, LTL, etc.)

    Experience working in a printing facility, preferred.
