    Job Description

    As an Advanced Engineering Intern with Rexnord, you will be part of the Innovation Center Advanced Engineering and Applied Research team, where you will have the opportunity to contribute to early stage technology evaluation and development with significant potential for leading-edge products across the Process & Motion Control Platform.  Depending on your skillsets, experience and aptitude, you will support one or more projects in advanced materials, advanced manufacturing, sensor integration, predictive analytics, and modeling & simulation.

    During the internship, you will be assigned a mentor who will guide your progress towards completion of specific engineering project goals. You will gain valuable hands-on experience in ideation, research, communication and project management. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in leadership development and networking activities to gain exposure to Rexnord culture and leadership.  You will be based at the PMC headquarters in Milwaukee, WI.

    Responsibilities

    Internship within Advanced Engineering team will be interdisciplinary in nature. This role could include (but not limited to):

    • Conducting literature reviews, documenting findings, and establishing research directions on technologies of interest to the team
    • Setting up experiments to test hypotheses concerning materials, processes, and anticipated use cases
    • Validating experimental findings with engineering analyses, modeling and simulation tools as appropriate
    • Partnering with team members from across Rexnord and external collaborators (e.g., suppliers, universities)

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIRED

    • Must be at least a Junior enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in mechanical engineering or materials science and engineering.  Prefer graduate students in these disciplines.
    • GPA of 3.0 or above
    • Proficiency with mechanical tools, equipment, and processes.  Hands-on experience with 3D printing preferred.
    • Strong computer proficiency and the ability to quickly learn new applications.  Finite element analysis and/or CAD experience preferred.
    • Strong innovation and creative thinking; self-motivated
    • Strong technical aptitude and analytical and problem-solving capabilities
    • Detail oriented individual with demonstrated organizational skills
    • Committed to safety
    • Ability to work independently (with minimal supervision), and within a team environment
    • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to manage multiple tasks
