Brief Description

CNC Lathe Set-Up Machinist is responsible for producing work in the most efficient manner while meeting the drawing/planning specification/requirements. Works with minimum supervision.

Key Accountabilities

• Completes set-ups with minimal supervision/assistance.
• Responsible for all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance.
• Perform and maintain accurate in-process quality inspection and records.
• Identify and recommend process improvements that reduce part quality variation.
• Continuously improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Maintains a culture of accountability.
• Ensure department machines are kept running per machine’s daily check scheduled.
• Ensure jobs are running per scheduled in work cell.
• May train lower level machinists.

Qualifications

Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors

• At least five (5) years experience operation set-up on CNC Lathe and Mill equipment.
• MULTIPLE TURRET AND MULTI-AXIS’S EXPERIENCE,   Y/ B Axis a plus.    
• Skilled in the use of indicator, gage, dial bores, and plate inspection methods for first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts.
• Ability to maintain close tolerances (within .0005”) of ID’s, hold .0005 profile, roundness.
• Knowledge of cutting tools feeds, speeds, and inserts tool life for aerospace machining.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blue print and quality requirements.
• Ability to communicate with employees and management in a positive manner.
• Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (over 25 lbs with assistance).
• Ideal candidate will have experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma.
• Per ITAR regulations must be a US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder).
