Job Description

The Quality Engineering Intern is responsible for ensuring that our processes are effective and enable us to manufacture quality products in a repeatable way.  The QE Intern is also responsible for insuring processes meet Rexnord and the customers quality requirements. This position reports to our Quality Manager, and is located at our facility in Simi Valley, CA. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform the data entry and statistical analysis of KPC (Key Process Characteristic) data submitted to customers for applicable part numbers.
• Validating Purchase Order requirements are flowed down to shop and vendor work instructions.
• Support the first article inspection process through compilation of first article inspection reports. Use this exposure to revise the FAI work instruction to reflect a more optimal use of the FAIR software (Discus)
• Drawing and master routing revisions resulting from the read-across of corrective actions (ex: expanding assembly routings to include the specific assembly/sub-assembly steps such as Greasing to support related corrective action plans).
• Participating in cross functional lean events to improve process quality and performance.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS CAPABILITIES AND SUCCESS FACTORS

• Currently enrolled in a four year engineering Bachelors degree program in Engineering, Applied Science, Technology or related field.
• Familiarity with statistics and/or Lean Six Sigma/continuous improvement a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Organized and able to triage priority of many different tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to support and lead cross functional teams.
• Self-motivated, proactive attitude toward meeting deadlines and objectives.
