As the PAPER PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN, you will be responsible for performing work duties of three identified skills within Job Family I as the skill is learned and certified: Winder Operator Assistant, Mill Utility, Inbound Technician and a cross-over skill from Job Family II. Proficiency of each skill is acquired through a combination of academic training and testing, and on the job training/demonstration of skill. This full-time position is a member of the location Paper Machine team and reports directly to the Production Team Lead.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Follows all work safety policies, programs and guidelines.
- Performs work duties/activities in accordance with LPI standards and procedures for each certified skill. Maintains proficiency by performing the skill on a regular schedule.
- Observes and monitors equipment operation, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and/or safety issues/concerns.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Communicates effectively to all other team members.
- Problem solving for continuous improvement and equipment trouble shooting.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Housekeeping
- Facility Committee Involvement/Community Involvement
- Working effectively with peers on assignments and projects
- Volunteers to help others with work activities as needed. Takes initiative to assist.

Required Experience
ADDITIONAL SKILLS, ABILITIES OR QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
- High School diploma/GED required
- Basic Computer Skills.
- Mobile Equipment certification preferred, but not required.
- Hoist and Crane operator certification preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated initiative and strong work habits.
- Good oral and written communication skills and good team building skills.
- Capability to work in an unsupervised position effectively.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good interpersonal communication skills for advising, recommending and exchanging information.
- Team player, problem solver, use sound judgment in decision making.
- Good planning and organization skills.
This position involves a rotating schedule of a 12 hour shifts from 7 to 7, working rotating days/nights throughout the year which includes scheduled weekends/holidays. Mandatory overtime may be required.
