Ryerson & Son, Inc., one of the largest metals distributors in the US, is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our Corporate Operations' team. The primary responsibility of this job will be to deploy capital and process improvement projects throughout our company. Reporting to the Senior Director, Manufacturing Technology Advancement, this position will be responsible for managing complex projects, process improvement initiatives and capital budget management the company. S/he will also support other operations functions. S/he will be a project team leader responsible for capital projects and implementing identified best practices in all locations and measuring results. Other areas of support include cost control, productivity and safety. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Plant layout and mechanical equipment installation Work with contractors and suppliers on new equipment supply and installation & upgrades and improvements on older equipment Engineering cost estimations Work with the EHS group and LEAN team to ensure that location layouts and equipment is installed and operated in a safe manner Provide management with project status updates and appropriate reporting on key process focused objectives Capital budget management including working across the organization to build financial returns on projects Financial background to understand project payback and rate of returns on investments Assist in driving change and process improvement efforts across the region Identify project improvement opportunities through productivity and expense analysis in all locations Deliver completed projects on-time and on-budget Identify best practices and transfer that knowledge throughout the rest of the organization Other requirements as needed Position Requirements: B.S. degree in engineering or related field preferred Minimum of 3 years experience in an engineering role (Mechanical or Industrial) Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks Proven project management expertise to assist our leadership in driving out waste, variation and defects from our business processes.
