    Utility Location(s) USA-MI-Melvindale Job ID 2018-5456 Employment Type Regular Full-Time Shift M-F, ~8 hours per day, approximately 40 hours/week Category General Labor Overview Savage Services Detroit Handling operation is seeking to fill a Utility position at our handling unit within the Marathon Refinery in Detroit Michigan. A Utility worker must be able to work on/around heights, ladders, conveyor systems, and moving equipment. Maintain a safe/clean work environment at all times. Operate machinery such as a bobcat and forklift. Responsibilities Maintain good and open communication with Crane Operator, Supervision, Managers and Maintenance Personnel via radio and other proper means Help and assist maintenance personnel with equipment maintenance as needed Ensure the cleanliness of the facility in coordination with the operators Maintain clean work space by removing trash and debris from all areas of responsibility including structures, break rooms, vehicles, etc. Complete all necessary documentation as required including JHAs, permits, log entries, audit sheet, daily check sheets, etc. Learn other positions as time permits When qualified fill in operations positions as needed (Move up) Qualifications Maintenance: mechanically inclined and have worked in jobs that require you to have ability to trouble shoot or fix mechanical breakdowns Refinery or Industrial Plant Operations: experience with high safety standards and dangers of working in these types of environments a plus Operation of conveyors, silos, cranes, heavy machinery and load out systems a plus Ability to work outside in any condition We operate 24/7, flexibility to work a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays if needed Ability to cross train and learn other positions (load out, coke cutting & bridge crane) in the plant when opportunities arise Be self-motivated with the ability to work alone or in groups Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience with applying safety regulations and written procedures within a refinery or chemical plant is a plus Physical Requirements: Cannot be afraid of heights Ability to climb and descend ladders Pass a drug screen (we have a random program) Pass a fit test for a respirator Pass a physical to get certified to wear a SCBA With more than 70 years experience in hundreds of locations across North America and internationally, Savage is a trusted partner for safely moving and managing mission-critical materials with worry-free consistency while creating value for our Customers.
