    We are looking for a talented student to join our team for our School To Work, Mechanical Engineer in Morristown, TN.

    In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

    The Cummins-Meritor Cooperative Education Student who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. The school-to-work, Mechanical Engineering will assists with the development of manufacturing standards and working methods by using continuous improvement tools. The student will, at the same time, gain real world experience and education in the field of Engineering in a business-to-business environment.

    • Assists current engineers with the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to the manufacturing equipment and systems while contributing to teams.
    • Assists with the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of a manufacturing processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met.

    • Contributes by applying the knowledge or use of manufacturing principles and practices to improve manufacturing equipment and processes.
    • Works with internal and external resources on specific project assignments.
    • Semester project to be determined with supervisor and other activities required by supervisor.

    To be successful in this role you will need the following:

    • Experience in AutoCAD applications and other 3D modeling software, Creo, SolidWorks, etc
    • Experience with data analytic tools.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools preferred.
    • Ability to learn on the job in a dynamic environment while balancing multiple priorities.
    • Ability to work independently and within teams as needed.
    • Demonstrates written and oral communication skills, including presentation creation.
    • Strong teamwork and ability to interact with all levels of the organizations.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

    Education, Licenses, Certification

    • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
    • Post-Secondary:
    • Must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.
    • Must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Base salary rate from $19.25 and above, commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
