    DESCRIPTION JOB LOCATION USA, Louisville, KY JOB POSTING TITLE Senior Design Engineer - Structures COE THE CHALLENGE This Senior design engineer role within the Structures Center-of-Excellence (COE) team is responsible for the design, development and implementation of electric and gas cooking appliances. This hands-on position requires creativity and technical competency to identify and develop cost effective and timely engineering solutions to meet key business metrics. He/she will own the process of designing, prototyping, testing, evaluating and implementing designs as part of the GEA change control process. WHAT YOU WILL DO WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    • Own design and implementation of new innovative structure features tied to new product launches in cooking.
    • Member of the Structures COE team that develops and executes oven, structure, and thermal components.
    • Demonstrate proven ability to work in a cross-functional environment to implement design into a high-volume manufacturing environment.
    • Own change control process from creating concepts in 3D space, completing predictive analysis, fabricating prototypes for feasibility, validating through experimental studies, and releasing design into production.
    • Design and execute evaluation plans to demonstrate design performance to required technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
    • Support the implementation of chosen design concepts within the manufacturing facility by participating in lean events and executing product builds.
    • Incorporate Design for Six Sigma, Design for Reliability and Lean principles into product designs.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineer or equivalent degree, required
    • 7 years in product design and development including system level design and testing
    • Advanced knowledge of thermal management designs utilized in cooking products
    • Self-starting leader with engineering design experience, strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Proficient in 3D modeling software such as Creo, Solidworks, or equivalent
    • Ability to balance effective use of finite element analysis and other predictive modeling with a hands on/experimental approach to study designs in a lab environment
    • Demonstrated passion for teamwork and above average verbal, written and interpersonal skills
    • Advanced computer skills; high proficiency in Microsoft products and ability to grasp new systems quickly
    • Some travel within southern US and Mexico to support team design and production activities (approximately 25%)

    PREFERRED

    • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineer, preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years of sheet metal product development experience
    • Knowledge or equivalent experience with statistical tools
