Staff Accountant Job Locations US-MO-Kansas City Job ID 2019-3201 # Positions 1 Overview Performs various financial accounting activities in the Accounting Department. Primary functions are to execute the closure of the monthly books, prepare monthly journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and assist the Controller and SVP - Finance. Responsibilities Prepares the standard monthly reporting package of financial results, which includes channel P&Ls, to be submitted to management. Executes the monthly closing procedures which include recording journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts and ensuring all entries are recorded appropriately. Prepares schedules for the annual external audit and assists the Controller on research of any specific issues that require resolution during the audit. Responsibilities may include: maintaining and reconciling fixed assets, preparing annual property tax filings and completing the monthly sales & use tax requirements. Assists the Controller with daily cash management duties. Performs financial analysis as directed for support of business decisions by management. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. Experience One to three years of experience in a financial accounting environment preferred. Skills/Abilities Effective analytical and communication skills required. Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets/formulas, Word and JD Edwards preferred. Other Solid knowledge of financial accounting concepts required.
