Provide technical support in the development, design, fabrication,
testing, documentation, improvement, cost reduction, and manufacturing
of Smith and Nephew products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include but are not limited to: (Other duties may be assigned) Work with
a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to develop, evaluate and iterate
prototypes of medical devices and systems. Be a self-driven, independent
achiever, with the ability to explore new, unfamiliar challenges, while
working as a member of a dedicated team. Develop proof of concept
prototypes to access the feasibility of proposed devices. Perform
iterative design work, including: modeling concepts using SolidWorks,
presenting ideas to a team of engineers, incorporating team feedback,
machining components, building prototypes, developing test methods,
evaluating prototype performance, and analyzing data. Perform testing
and develop test methods and apparatus for evaluating the effectiveness,
safety, and reliability of products. Light machine shop work and use of
hand tools. Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution on
product/processes/equipment Perform other duties as required. ** **
Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must
be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements

required. Requires relevant experience, creative problem solving skills,
the ability to work with minimal supervision, hands-on fabrication and
modification of medical devices and controllers. Education and/or
Experience: Current student pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related scientific
discipline. Language Skills: Good written/verbal communication skills
required Good written/verbal comprehension skills required Mathematical
Skills: Required: College level mathematical skills. Desirable:
Understanding of advanced concepts. Reasoning Ability: Need to be able
to make sound decisions with attention to details. Computer Skills:
Ability to create and/or update design files and drawings in SolidWorks
Word processing and spreadsheet proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and
Publisher) Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Desirable: Drafting,
industrial technology or design, CAD, Electronics, Quality, inspection,
machining, assembly Other Skills and Abilities: Experience designing,
machining, and prototyping with metals, ceramics, and plastics
Experience with hands-on, proof-of-concept prototyping and iterative
design Desirable: Quality, inspection, machining, assembly, drafting,
industrial technology or design. Familiarity with electronic
instrumentation including oscilloscopes, various sensors, and analog
