ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manage and develop Invacare’s privacy policies and procedures and ensure consistency across the global business units
• Develop guidelines and procedures for identifying privacy risk and evaluating privacy implications of new projects or systems
• Support Global Change Control Board on privacy matters
• Provide privacy training among employees across geographies
• Maintain processes to enable compliant cross-border data transfers including coordination of the Privacy Shield verification process
• Lead incident response, including data breach preparedness and incident investigations
• Assess and address privacy-related risks and requests arising from customers, suppliers and projects
• Conduct Data Privacy Impact Assessments to identify risks associated with data processing activities and customer facing websites
• Manage processes for compliance to various regional privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR and CCPA
• Manage and develop policies and procedures for handling Privacy Information Requests from internal and external data subjects
• Review contracts with external vendors to address privacy-related risk mitigation and compliance measures
• Design controls for ensuring privacy by design for new digital product developments, platforms and initiatives
• Coordinate a network of GDPR compliance liaisons across all sites in EMEA region
• Serve as contact point of GDPR supervisory authorities, in conjunction with the Legal Department, on data privacy issues
• Coordinate third-party process for conducting a global data privacy gap assessment to identify compliance program maturity and coordinate appropriate remediation activities

Required Skills Required Experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree or post-graduate degree
• Minimum of 8 years’ business experience, preferably with multi-national companies, with a legal, regulatory or IT background; familiarity with the medical device industry and its business processes is preferred
• Functional understanding of applicable Data Privacy laws and regulations in Europe and US is required
• Experience in compliance programs in the medical device/life sciences industry preferred
• Experience in vendor compliance management a plus
• Good working knowledge of common IT systems, processes and enterprise information security practices (e.g. ISO, NIST)
• Ability to translate a wide variety of principles and, sometimes complex, legal requirements into actionable solutions for the business and IT functions
• Skilled in interactions which involve influencing and garnering support from others for data privacy projects
• Effective planning and coordination skills, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced business environment
• Commitment to high standards of quality and ethical behavior
• IAPP or equivalent certification preferred
• Fluent in English
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally (approximately 15%)

Required Experience and Knowledge:

• Operating System Installation - Windows Server, Linux, Unix
• Rack, cable, and deploy Cisco Layer 2 networking equipment a plus
• Web Server and Database installation experience a plus
• Must be able to work in this country without company sponsorship
• Must be fluent in English
• Must be able to work in Canada without sponsorship
• Must be willing to learn quickly, multi-task, and work in a fast pace environment
