  • Responsibilities

    Carrier has an opening for an experienced Computer Scientist or Software Engineer to serve as a vital member of the eDesign team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining software-based tools used to design and optimize the energy efficiency of HVAC systems for commercial buildings. eDesign tools are used by thousands of engineering firms worldwide in their business. This position is based in Syracuse, NY.

    The candidate's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Developing desktop application software for HVAC system design and energy modeling.

    • Analyzing software requirements and designing software solutions.

    • Coding to implement solutions.

    • Working collaboratively with other developers for planning, design & code review, test planning, etc..

    • Performing unit and system testing.

    • Participating in Agile development process.

    • Participating in team project meetings.

    • Evaluating and identifying new libraries, tools, and technologies for use by the software development team, as needed.

    EDUCATION:

    The ideal candidate will be a at least a sophomore, junior, or senior pursing a Bachelor`s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering with similar co-op/intern or work experience. The candidate must have a 3.0 minimum GPA overall.

    EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

    • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

    • COVID-19 vaccines will be required for all newly hired Carrier U.S. Salaried employees

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

    • Proficiency with C# and .Net

    • Understanding of object-oriented design and analysis (OOD and OOA)

    • Technology experience including Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL, XML, JSON, WPF, XAML.

    • Demonstrated experience working on independent, self-motivated tasks, with excellent problem solving skills.

    • Experience with software development principles and processes

    • Good general understanding of geometry and math.

    • Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation communication skills
