Apprentice Composites Technician Temporary The Composites Production team is looking for highly motivated individuals who has hands on experience. Individuals will go through a 4-12 week program to learn the basics of composites assembly and lamination. Apprentices that perform exceptionally may be given the opportunity to convert into a full time role. RESPONSIBILITIES: Support and assist technicians with the following: * Trimming and finishing of composite and composite metallic assemblies. * Assembly of structures including setup, bonding, and fastener applications. * Use of solvents to prepare surfaces for sealing or assembly. * Laminate fabrication skills, including pre-preg and wet layup. * Laminate assemblies by determining proper placement of composite materials into molds. * Preparation parts for bagging, including placement of bleeders, thermocouples, probes and vacuum connections. * Check seals on completed bagged parts for leaks. POSITION DETAILS: This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate. * LENGTH OF POSITION: 3 Months. * LOCATION: Hawthorne, CA. * SHIFT: 1st or 2nd shift * Individuals must be available for both shifts. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: * High School diploma or GED required. * 6 months of experience using hand tools or mechanical assembly. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: * A&P License or Composites Certification. * High-volume manufacturing experience is a plus. * Experience gained through the military or within an aviation manufacturing or aerospace company is a plus. * Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: * Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position. * Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted. * Must be open to working all shifts. * Must be willing to work significant amount of overtime when needed.
