    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

     

    This position will be responsible for managing and overseeing vendor ripening warehouse operations, through efficient coordination of all concerned parties (Del Monte, Customer and Local third party).  In this role, will be responsible for Del Monte ripening program to include; ripening bananas, maintaining proper inventory control, meeting customer expectation for product quality and specifications and, ensure proper product handling and storage procedures.

     

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Ripen and maintain bananas (and other Del Monte Products) according to standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
    • Be responsible for managing inventory, maintaining stock and making adjustments as need to achieve customer goals, meet customer expectations, and ensure minimum product loss and maximum product movement.
    • Manage location’s fruit inspection program; effectively communicate with Packaging and Quality Assurance departments on inbound product condition and disposition.
    • Manage location specific product program, and make adjustments based upon market conditions.
    • Review current and potential product issues with Del Monte Quality Assurance and Sales team.
    • Work with location warehouse personnel including, customer Quality Assurance department, lift truck drivers, warehouse assistants and foremen to achieve program goals.
    • Communicate with General/Port Managers/ Sales teams to coordinate timely delivery schedules and maintain adequate inventory.
    • Facilitate the flow of information from operation to Corporate Office, Sales teams and Supervisor. Function as the designated point person at the facility.
    • Monitor and ensure scheduled maintenance of ripening equipment is performed on a regular basis.
    • Manage operating costs for location, while maintaining support to ensure safety and customer satisfaction.
    • Conduct or attend safety meetings to ensure proper communication, and exchange of information, between departments at local operation.
    • Train staff (all concerned parties) on proper fruit handling and delivery procedures.
    • Oversee scheduling of work team to ensure necessary coverage at all times.

     

    MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED:

     

    • 4 year degree in a related field, from an accredited institution, and/or equivalent work experience.
    • 5+ years previous experience working in a multi-product food manufacturing environment.
    • 5+ years previous management or supervisory experience.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
    • Excellent communication skills (i.e. oral and written).
    • Ability to operate, and certifications for, electric pallet jack and forklifts.

     

    PREFERRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

     

    • Chemical knowledge.
    • Bilingual: English and Spanish.
