    POSITION SCOPE:

    An advanced user or expert in business intelligence and analytics applications, modules and processes.  The mission of this position is to analyze business requirements and to identify projects and technologies which will enable significant improvements in the corporation’s financial planning and analysis functions.  The focus of this position will be planning, data, analytics and reporting. The analyst formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both business needs and a solid understanding of industry requirements and technology best practices.  In addition, the Analyst will function as a project manager to coordinate and facilitate the work of cross-functional company resources assigned to technology projects.  This position will also assist in routine maintenance for specific modules in the company’s suite of business applications.  This position collaborates with business process owners to foster a positive IT customer relations environment.

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Principal Duties and Responsibilities: five to eight key responsibilities/activities for which the position is accountable:

     

    • Define business requirements jointly working with IT and business management and subject matter experts.  Technical solutions must satisfy the business needs for the future, i.e., take into account company growth and objectives
    • Leverage general business skills and industry-specific skills in combination with strong technical capabilities in FP&A and consolidation processes along with BI/Analytics tools to implement analytics for financial reporting, consolidation, planning, operations, sales, and forecasting. Solutions would include all phases of analysis, design, implementation and production support. Solutions can include deployment and integration of various software to third party software.
    • Maintain and support analytics and reporting in various GPI BI environments, including but not limited to TM1, Qlikview, Business Objects, and BPC.
    • Develop working relationships with business users and gain an understanding of the complex nature of the GPI business. Maintain familiarity with the business plans of the Company and the departments serviced. Remain knowledgeable of information technology and Company business operations.
    • Responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of project milestones. Familiar with the systems’ scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member in order to effectively coordinate the activities of the work team.
    • Prioritize projects and tasks to achieve department and company objectives. Ensure adequate communication is maintained regarding all project status and priorities.
    • Develop detailed system design documents which support the business requirements.
    • Conduct technical reviews and walk-through of IT design documentation with development and design team members.
    • Review and critique the technical documentation of other systems to assure quality products.
    • Provide support for designated application systems. Augment and facilitate the design, development, and implementation of enhancements to existing business systems.
    • Work with GPI corporate IT on disaster recovery procedures and testing
    • Provide support for routine system maintenance
    • Provide guidance in creating standards, testing procedures, version control, etc. Maintain a professional awareness of tools and techniques that might be used to improve the quality of service.
    • Ensures all projects are managed in accordance to established GPI IT governance practices
    • Foster cross-functional relationships inter- and intra-departmentally for effective project management
    • Assign projects and track the completion of major milestones
    • Communicate to all stakeholders updates on project status
    • Participate in GPI IT change control process
    • Work with IT, internal and external auditors to insure ITGC are being followed

    POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:  List minimum level of education, special training, certifications, or technical skills/experience required for this position.

    • 4-year college degree in general or IT-Related field required. Equivalent work experience considered.
    • 8+ years IT experience including 4-6 years’ business intelligence applications. Experience in both implementation and application support is desired.  General experience should include systems architecture, design, and implementation of analytics.
    • Experience in financial planning and analysis processes required
    • Experience in consolidation processes a plus
    • 2+ years project management experience
    • Experience in designing financial management and planning metrics and analytics. Activities should include analysis of business requirements for the financial applications, analysis of accounting and finance rules and practices, documentation of financial requirements, design and build of data models, and building the resulting analytics/metrics a plus
    • Experience in TM1, Qlikview, SAP BW, Microsoft, or SAP BPC applications required
    • Experience with at least one additional multidimensional OLAP tool is required
    • Working knowledge an ERP system and the associated best practices processes, i. e. Oracle, JDE, SAP.
    • Strong knowledge of all areas of business intelligence including data extraction, staging, transformation, and query development a plus
    • Experience with developing custom data sources/cubes and enhancing existing data sources/cubes in TM1 and other OLAP environment tools (BPC, QV, BW, etc.) required
    • Understanding of best practices in Data Modeling
    • Ability to coordinate with customers to map existing legacy system data and structures to the SAP ERP system. Ideally should have experience doing extracts from both Non-SAP and SAP source systems
    • Experience with ETL design and implementation involving the extraction of data from a variety of legacy systems, integration, and cleansing of data before loading into data warehouses
    • Experience with working directly with customers to validate requirements for cleansing and standardizing existing legacy master data and provide custom configurations in unique environments
    • Demonstrated business process modeling and requirements definition
    • Working knowledge of both agile and waterfall project management methodology a plus
    • Experience in working with off-shore resources a plus
