Only current South Carolina Department of Social Services employees are eligible for this position. Under limited supervision, the Human Services Coordinator II will be responsible for supervising and preparation of child support cases for Family Court; performance of activities in Court; the follow-up on these cases, including parent locate and processing of interstate cases; and is responsible for providing general child support services to clients as required or needed. Provides services in accordance with agency policy and procedure. Assist Regional Director in administering Regional Office including implementation of policies and procedures. Handle caseload in assigned counties by preparing cases for court or administrative conferences; verifying or notarizing pleadings; scheduling and attending hearings; filing papers with court and utilizing DSS computer system. Propose policy and procedure changes and assists in formulating same; advises Human Service Specialists of new policies and procedures and performs other relates duties as required. Responsible for resolving customer complaints and handling problematic cases. Assign caseloads to Human Service Specialists and reviews same periodically to ensure quity and balance; maintains statistics on cases, monitoring to assure that program meets performance requirements. Responsible for training and guidance of new and experienced Human Services Specialists; acts as resource for new attorneys; assesses needs of staff. Responsible for making hiring and other personnel recommendations to the Director. This inlcudes interviewing, submitting recommendations and monitoring vacancies. Directly supervises Human Services Coordinator I's in the performance of their duties. Assure dockets and case scheduling are maximized for proficiency and performance. Serve as liaison for the Regional Office with contracted genetic testing vendor, other state and county DSS staff, law enforcement and court personnel and out of state jurisdictions. Responsible for identifying problems, making recommendations and participating in the corrective actions. Perform Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed. Minimum and Additional Requirements A Bachelor's Degree in any other field and three (3) years of professional experience in human services or social service programs. Selected positions may prefer supervisory experience. A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, or Behavioral Science and two (2) years of professional experience in human services or social service programs. A Master's Degree in any other field and two (2) years of professional experience in human services or social service programs. A Master's Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, or Behavioral Science and one (1) year of professional experience in human services or social service programs. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by the Division of State Human Resources. Preferred Qualifications Knowledgeable of federal, state and local laws or regulations pertaining to social service programs. Ability to supervise employees. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to organize and maintain a caseload. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with officials, other state agencies and the public.
