Job Responsibilities This is a South Carolina Department of Social Services Internal Job Posting. Only current South Carolina Department of Social Services employees are eligible for this position. Under general supervision, the Administrative Specialist II will perform a variety of advanced clerical and typing duties. Exercises judgment and discretion in various duties performed for the agency. Receive clients applying for FI and SNAP benefits, explain services and registers applicants, assign caseworkers and scan registered applications into SCOSA. Serve as switchboard operator of the agency by receiving call, transferring calls to the desired departments. Greet customers at the reception desk, help customers needs and routes them to designated program/ caseworker either directly or via tracking sheet through client registration. Copy documents for clients and scan into the SCOSA system to appropriate caseworker. Receive, open, stamp and distribute all drop box and incoming mail to appropriate individuals or folders in SCOSA. Pull faxes and distribute appropriately. Process verifications for local organizations and scan in any consent forms that need to be scanned for verifications. Perform job delivery and/ or performance with positive or appropriate customer service deliver to clients, the public and co-workers as an integral requirement. Perform emergency disaster management services to include Red Cross Sheltering and Snap duties required. Minimum and Additional Requirements A High school diploma and two (2) years of clerical experience. Selected positions may require the ability to type at a corrected rate of 35 words per minute. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by the Division of State Human Resources. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of grammatical rules, spelling and clerical formats. Knowledge of office management policies and working knowledge of standard office equipment. Ability to coordinate and work well with others. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Is courteous and respectful to their colleagues, clients, and the general public.
