Assist local school districts in the assessment of identified students who are blind or visually impaired and the reporting of educational and adaptive needs in the areas of cognition, literacy social, self-help and other areas specific to blindness. Works with local school districts to schedule lessons and provide itinerant instruction in Braille, use of residual vision, adaptation of instructional materials and other unique needs of students with visual impairments. Minimum and Additional Requirements Requires a Bachelor's Degree with a SC Teacher's Licensure in Visual Impairment and two years' experience working with students (birth to 21 years) who are blind or visually impaired. Must be able to work effectively and cooperatively with parents, teachers, and other professionals in the provision of services. Must be proficient in the teaching of Braille and other adaptive skills needed by students who are blind.
