    JOB TITLE:  MANAGER, SYSTEMS 

      

    JOB SUMMARY:  

    Candidate is expected to be a system engineering professional with experience in complex operating systems and applications design, implementation, management and evaluation.  Responsible for directing the management, planning, and operations of the windows server environment, including but not limited to Active Directory and Azure AD, Exchange/Office 365, storage and backup environments.  Provides technical leadership and supervises system administrators.  

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    • Works under general direction from senior management  
    • Develops technical architecture principles and best practices for system design implementation  
    • Establishes/recommends policies on system use and services  
    • Lead engineer for system group project and initiatives  
    • Provides technical lead and/or supervises system administrators  
    • Develop and refine policies and procedures relating to security, data integrity, change control, and documentation of server systems. Ensures team is working in accordance with these procedures  
    • Oversee and provide technical expertise on backup and storage solutions, including moving to cloud platforms  
    • Communicate with members of the senior IT management team, and constituencies about project progress and any issues, including needed changes in schedule, resources, or product.

      

     

    COMPETENCIES 

    • Experience with Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 environments  
    • Thorough knowledge of good server and system administration principles  
    • Experience with Microsoft Windows Administration , including Group Policies  
    • Working experience with Virtualization and Cloud solutions, including Azure AD  
    • Experience with patch deployment and system administration technologies, such as SCCM and PAM  
    • Working knowledge of Red Hat  
    • Self-starter that requires minimal supervision and can provide oversight for any assigned projects  
    • Strong  coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities  
    • Management experience including directly managing employees and budget responsibilities  
    • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints and automate processes  
    • Successfully presents technical information

      

     

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK 

    This position is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, generally 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. This position is a hybrid remote and will require the candidate to come to the St. John’s Queens campus as needed. In addition, the ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.  

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

    • Five to seven of previous system administration experience and hands on technical knowledge  
    • Bachelors degree required; MCSE or equivalent certification preferred

      

     

    ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS  

    • Proven leadership and analytical abilities including a genuine commitment to professional development and team building.  
    • Experience managing teams to elevate performance.
