    AUTOKINITON, formerly L&W Group, is excited to announce an opening for a Sr. Quality Technician in our Euclid Operation in Detroit, Michigan! As a busy manufacturing supplier that produces car parts for major automotive customers around the world, we need you to apply.

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    Performs metallurgical testing on sheet steel samples. Use metallurgy equipment to determine strength, hardness, elasticity, toughness, elongation and other properties of the material. Evaluate microstructure to verify compliance with customer requirements.

    JOB/TASK FUNCTIONS:

    THE FOLLOWING JOB/TASK FUNCTIONS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS THE CORE FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION. HOWEVER, THE SUPERVISOR OR MANAGER MAY ASSIGN ADDITIONAL DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION.

    • Prepare (cut, mount and polish) steel samples for metallurgical analysis.
    • Interpret metallographic microstructures.
    • Operate CNC mill, plasma cutter, grinders, metallurgical mounting press, autopolisher, microscope, microhardness tester, Rockwell hardness tester, Instron Tensile Tester and other equipment as required.
    • Verify incoming and in process material meets the Automotive Customer’s requirements.
    • Record results/data in electronic log.
    • Create metallurgical reports in Excel (or equivalent).
    • Mix and apply acid etchants to samples.
    • Perform regular maintenance on all equipment used.
    • Communicate quality issues and concerns and/or non-conforming or suspect material with Metallurgical Lab Supervisor and team members.
    • Collect SPC data as required.
    • Perform GR & R Studies
    • Interpret customer drawings (GD&T) and material specifications.
    • Active Team participant in problem-solving activities.
    • Support of non-conforming material system proficiency (put in / take out).
    • Ability to use computers in area of quality alerts, setting up sorts and gather information from sorts.
    • Ability to take calls from customers and set-up sorts, document communication and notify proper personnel.
    • Support TS-16949, ISO 9001, QOS and ISO 14001 standards and procedures.
    • Understands, supports, and implements the company Safety policies and procedures into daily work habits.
    • Understands, supports, and implements the company Quality policy and procedures into daily work habits.
    • Understands, supports, and implements the company Housekeeping policies into daily work habits.
    • Understands, supports, and implements Continuous Improvement skills into daily work habits.
    • Keeps work area clean and orderly using 5S.
    • Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.)
    • Able and willing to work any shift assigned, weekends and overtime
    • Regular and predictable attendance required
    • Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor
