    The Commercial Rooftop Engineering group is responsible for the development, design, and implementation of new rooftop products that span the refrigeration capacity ranges of 3 to 150 tons. We are seeking a responsible and qualified Syracuse University student candidate. Mechanical Engineering Interns with at least 2 years of course study to support new product development projects in the spring semester of 2022, in Syracuse, NY (approximately 10 hours per week for one semester).

    Projects and tasks will focus on one or more of the following:

    • Heat Transfer, Fluid Flow, and Thermodynamics
    • Specification Development
    • Product Literature Development
    • Project Management

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop product literature, including physical data and performance tables
    • Run computer models to simulate system and component performance
    • Support engineering projects by organizing parts for prototype builds and working with mechanics and model shop to build parts and assemblies
    • Work with the design team in developing purchased parts specifications
    • Attend company functions, lunch and learns, and networking events
    • Shadow multiple office positions and train in a variety of tasks\ Report out on the experience and present summer-long project to the local Engineering leadership team in a 30-45 minute PowerPoint presentation at the end of the internship

    REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
    • COVID-19 vaccines will be required for all newly hired Carrier U.S. Salaried employees
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-directed and able to tackle new projects and ideas
    • Experience using Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
    • Minimum of at least 2 years of completed coursework

    EDUCATION:

    • Candidate must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
    • GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0
    • Relevant coursework or previous internships preferred
