GAF is looking for a Systems Engineering R&D Intern for Commercial Roofing. The ideal candidate for this role is majoring in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Architectural or Materials engineering. The intern would be responsible for leading research and development projects aimed at developing new products/systems and building a pipeline of new innovation opportunities for the fast-growing commercial roofing business.

JOB DUTIES:

• Gather customer insights through existing market research data and new field observation studies and identify new solution development opportunities to solve customer’s pain points.

• Lead competitive product research on single-ply (TPO and PVC) membranes, polyiso insulation, roof boards, adhesives and fasteners and identify gaps in our current product/system portfolio

• Build prototypes, test and analyze data and present results to key stakeholders and senior leadership team and pitch new product ideas (physical and digital) for further development

• Support in evaluating predictive modeling and building science fundamentals through active collaboration with subject matter experts

REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent communication skills are all necessary as is the ability to operate in a team. The successful candidate must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and an anticipated graduation date between December 2023 and May 2025.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, without visa sponsorship now and in the future.

All GAF internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however, there are no benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 37.5 hours per week over the summer. Transportation, F-1 and HB-1 visa sponsorship will not be provided in association with these positions.
