    We’re looking for a Systems Security Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, your focus will be on helping to secure a range of Roll-Royce Defense products against an increasingly diverse and highly detailed range of threats. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working together to tackle technical tasks in a stimulating and collaborative environment.

    This is an exciting opportunity to work on flagship RR programs and play an important role in addressing some of the most highly detailed and interesting technological tasks in Defense. You will be encouraged to further develop and leverage your skills and experience in Systems Security Engineering and to help grow RR capability in this pivotal area.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Work with the core product security and Liberty Works teams to agree the technology and processes required to meet customer requirements for system security and resiliency
    • Act as a business technical specialist in secure cyber resilient engineering (SCRE), applying technical knowledge and providing technical direction as required throughout the product lifecycle: requirements, design, build, test, production, operations, and support
    • A small number of you or projects in this subject area, providing technical capacity to teams or projects in addition to having impact through functional knowledge
    • Collaborate with government, customers, suppliers, and industry experts to enhance systems security capability and tools
    • Identify new technological solutions to increase product cybersecurity and resilience, including identifying relevant emerging technologies and research areas
    • Develop and update systems security and resilience good practice and help ensure the techniques, policies, procedures, and knowledge to enable us to implement this good practice across the business.
  • Qualifications

    Basic Requirements:

    • Associate degree with 7+ in a relevant engineering environment (Electrical, Software, Systems)
    • Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Electrical, Software, Systems) with 5+ years’ experience, OR
    • Masters degree in STEM discipline with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Electrical, Software, Systems), with 3+ years’ experience OR
    • JD/PhD OR
    • 9+ in a relevant engineering environment (Electrical, Software, Systems), in lieu of degree.
    • In order to be considered for this role, should be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance.
  • Desired skills

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Excellent systems thinking aptitude: the ability to understand highly detailed system boundaries, interactions, and interdependencies across multiple abstraction layers throughout the systems’ entire lifecycle.
    • Some knowledge of embedded systems and the technical skills required to develop, implement, and secure such cyber-physical systems
    • Experience or interest in cybersecurity and cyber threats ( designing secure products, systems, and applications; intrusion detection; digital forensics; system recovery; risk assessment tools and methods; security solutions, policies, standards, and procedures)
    • Desire to mentor and educate other members of the team. Dynamically learn, develop, apply, and share recently gained knowledge and skills in this face-paced and dynamic discipline
    • An interest in novel and emerging technology solutions and how they might be used to enhance system security and resiliency
    • Outcome-focused, with good problem-solving abilities, including an aptitude for finding practical solutions to highly detailed technical problems.
