ID: -65140 -Office Location: -NA-US-CA-Palo Alto-Deer Creek-HQ -Job Shift: -Job Type: -Employee -Description -The Role Be a technical point of contact for the Tesla commercial sales team by evaluating and quantifying the techno-economic value streams of Tesla Energy Storage Product sales opportunities The Sales Engineer Associate will: -Work with prospective customers to identify the best commercial and technical fit of Teslas battery systems by defining and quantifying the business case and techno-economic value streams for Tesla energy storage products. -Work with the Tesla Sales team to analyze and present the optimal battery system size for potential storage opportunities. -Work closely with Sr. Sales Engineer to complete the financial and preliminary site design for customers -Work with the sales team to evaluate new market segments and perform analysis of storage potential. -Research and understand regional energy markets and utilities, define and disseminate functional requirements with internal business and engineering colleagues -Support Tesla energy policy team in on-going proceedings related to tariffs and market mechanisms to inform / update modeling processes. -Support Sr. Sales Engineers with preliminary design activities pertaining to the opportunity/ project, including engineering, quality control, and code compliance -Work with the customer and sales team to finalize and negotiate energy storage contracts (project performance guarantees, etc) This is a multi-faceted role where strong analytical skills and knowledge of engineering fundamentals mechanical, electrical, and thermal is expected. Background Top-tier academic background (engineering especially electrical preferred) Demonstrated experience in analysis to solve complex problems Demonstrated experience related to energy markets and utilities Demonstrated experience working on energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers Ability to breakdown complex engineering ideas for customers new to storage Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel Excellent communication and documentation skills Demonstrated experience working with utilities on generation development and interconnection is a plus Deep passion for changing the way we use energy on the electric grid Requirements BS or MS, Engineering in areas of Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering 1+ years work experience in the energy industry Superior knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Work, & Powerpoint), CRM (Salesforce.com) Ability to keep track of quickly-changing market conditions regarding storage funding, product development, and competitive landscape. Ability to prioritize and execute many tasks in parallel Familiarity with financial analyses Professional fluency in English and the language(s) of the assigned region, additional languages a plus Knowledge of battery systems, power conversion, and grid systems
