    You'll be joining Wabtec Bus Solutions, a team driving innovation in Transit Bus & Rail systems, including passenger door systems, wheelchair lifts & ramps, e-Bus charging systems, driver’s protective barriers, and more. We blend technical expertise with deep product knowledge to deliver high-impact solutions for our customers and communities.

    How will you make a difference?

    As a lead technician in the Wabtec Bus Solutions division, you will support the test engineering team by executing hands-on testing for development and troubleshooting, managing the engineering lab environment, and other test engineering related activities. Reporting to the Engineering Manager or Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of validation activities, supporting engineers in product testing and development. You will serve as a critical link between engineering, quality, and production teams, contributing to continuous improvement efforts and enhancing customer satisfaction. You will act as a technical leader within the lab, mentoring junior technicians, refining test processes, and ensuring best practices are followed across validation efforts,

    What will your typical day look like?

    • Execute and optimize functional, performance, and environmental tests
    • Lead RMA diagnostics, document findings, and support corrective actions
    • Manage the engineering lab for safety, 5S, and operational efficiency
    • Build and maintain test setups, fixtures, and calibrated equipment
    • Perform validation testing for new designs, prototypes, and design changes
    • Track recurring issues using structured fault databases and support root cause analysis
    • Share test data with Engineering and Quality providing feedback to improve product design and test coverage
    • Participate in design reviews with a focus on testability and diagnostics
    • Support continuous improvement in test processes and documentation

    What do we want to know about you?

    • Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering Technology (Bachelor’s preferred)
    • 7+ years relevant experience
    • Experience in electro-mechanical testing, troubleshooting, and validation
    • Proficiency with test tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, hydraulic presses, pressure gauges
    • Strong skills in executing and refining test procedures for electro-mechanical systems
    • Advanced troubleshooting ability and independent judgment in a lab environment
    • Experience with RMA diagnostics, root cause analysis, and structured fault tracking
    • Familiarity with DC motors, relays, contactors, and embedded control systems
    • Hands-on support of prototype builds, test setups, and new product validation, including designing and assembling aluminum/8020 structures
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical documentation tools
    • Ability to manage priorities and work independently in a fast-paced setting
    • Experience managing lab environments for safety, 5S, and operational efficiency

    • Mix of office and lab work
    • Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds
    • Stand, walk, and navigate facilities
    • Occasional travel (10%) to customers and manufacturing sites
    • Ability to build, test, & inspect electro-mechanical systems and test systems in an office, lab, manufacturing environment, and/or on transit buses

    You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

    Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $55900-74100. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include annual bonus, if eligible.
