Business Need / Purpose of Role The Buyer is responsible for timely placement, management and delivery of purchase orders for Weir Seaboard. This includes but not limited to vendor, management of vendor base and expediting. Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities Including but not limited to:Purchases production material requirements as called out on product drawings, bill-of material, and specifications.Updating approved vendor list in the Manufacturing Control computer database.Seeking to lower cost though the use of competitive bidding from vendorsAssist in Productions Planning and Control.Expedites incoming shipments to meet productions requirementsAssists operations with purchasing record keeping requirements.Maintains required quality program purchase order checks, balances, and documentation.Promotes and actively participates in the company quality and safety programs.Possess knowledge of oilfield application for both pump and flow control products, and knowledge of product technician specifications.Performs other duties as assigned Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications Education/Experience:Bachelor of Arts, Supply Chain degree is preferable with procurement experience or/and equivalent Bachelors degree from an accredited school with a minimum of two years' experience in procurement and sourcing activities. Travel Requirements:Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time to include foreign travel that will require a valid passport. Language:Must be able to communicate fluently in both English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divided in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs Reasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to work independently without supervision. Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, and individual should have knowledge ofMicrosoft office in particular in Excel, purchasing software, and ERP experiences is a plus. Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work outside for short periods of time and is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be significant, as expected in a heavy industry manufacturing facility. Personal protective equipment is required in certain areas of the facility. While performing duties this job may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures.
