    Job Description

    As the Tooling & Equipment Engineer you will plan, design, and execute electrical engineering and controls work associated with all aspects of manufacturing and process equipment, including custom integration and purchased machinery, by performing the following duties:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned).

    • Provide controls and electrical engineering design and programming for custom machine applications including hardware integration, electrical BOM, and schematics
    • Support continuous improvement activities with controls solutions based on general guidelines from plant engineering groups
    • Facilitate troubleshooting and repair of equipment with maintenance, quality, and operations departments
    • Ensure machine safety by reading and interpreting relevant codes and modifying or updating internal design protocols along with modifying existing equipment as needed
    • Control all programs and electrical equipment drawings and ensure current revisions are available for the maintenance staff
    • Support New Products teams by collaborating with equipment engineers and project teams for testing solutions as well as providing air decay programs and initial parameter settings for new products
    • Provide guidance and technical solutions for Process Engineering and Quality Engineering initiatives
    • Support integration of manufacturing equipment with quality systems and visual factory initiatives, leading hardware and logic changes at the machine/cell level
    • Compile, prepare, and present data for project updates and presentations
    • Identify and lead strategic projects and improvement opportunities for the facility
    • Develop business case and Capital Expenditure Requests for the purchase of replacement controls hardware, including updating PLCs and HMIs
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • BSEE from accredited four-year college or university.
    • Preferred at least five (3) years of experience in controls design, panel construction, and PLC programming in a high volume assembly/ cellular manufacturing environment.
    • Knowledge of specifying, integrating, and programming multiple aspects of automated and semi-automated equipment, including, but not limited to, robotics, servo motors, stepper motors, digital/analog sensors, and variable frequency drives.
    • Functional knowledge of machine wiring standards and relevant code requirements
    • Detailed problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

    Additional Information

    Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $60,000 USD - $99,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
