    RESEARCH ASSOCIATE/TECHNICIAN POSITION

     

    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the research team led by Dr. Xingguo Cheng as a Research Associate or Technician in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John’s University located in Queens, NY. This position is available immediately with a focus on a contract research project employing in vitro models and molecular biology techniques to investigate novel regulatory mechanisms of psychoactive drugs. The Research Associate/Technician will be expected to participate in study design, perform experiments, analyze data using appropriate statistical measures, and prepare reports to ensure the successful execution of the contract project.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • The successful candidate must have demonstrated training and experience using in vitro cell culture systems.
    • The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in using molecular biology techniques to characterize gene and protein expression and their regulation. Techniques that are highly desired include, but not limit to, molecular cloning, recombinant plasmid engineering, western blotting, RT-qPCR, ChIP assays, vector-based luciferase reporter assays, and immunofluorescence staining.
    • A degree of M. S. or above in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology/Toxicology or a closely related biomedical field.
    • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
    • Able to excel in a research environment consisting of summer interns, undergraduate and graduate students, the successful candidate is expected to demonstrate team player spirit and a willingness to collaborative with other members of the team.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Most of the required work will be performed in a wet lab setting. Data analysis and report preparation will be performed in a desk/office setting within or next to the lab.
