Job Description
The Transportation Planner is responsible for developing and executing transportation plans, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and serving as a liaison between sites and the transportation team. This role involves managing transportation escalations, overseeing cost savings projects, and driving regional optimization efficiencies. The Transportation Planner will also proactively track shipments, update delivery dates, and leverage team knowledge to improve transportation processes. This position will grow into a point of contact for the broader DC network and collaborate with procurement to address capacity limitations.
This role can be based remote but will need to work on Pacific time, Monday - Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM PST
Responsibilities:
Transportation Planning: Develop and execute transportation plans for assigned sites, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of goods.
KPI Metrics: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transportation, identifying areas for improvement.
Site Liaison: Act as a liaison between assigned sites and the transportation team, facilitating communication and resolving transportation-related issues.
Transportation Escalation: Manage general transportation escalations, addressing and resolving problems promptly and effectively.
Cost Savings & Optimization: Oversee cost savings projects and regional optimization efficiencies within transportation operations.
SAI Dating: Update EBS (Enterprise Business System) expected delivery dates for SAI shipments once they are shipped from the coating site, improving material availability visibility.
Transportation Program Knowledge: Leverage team knowledge of specific transportation programs to decrease complexity at West Coast sites.
Pallet Restrictions & Capacity: Collaborate with the procurement and transportation teams to address pallet restrictions and general capacity limitations.
Qualifications
Relevant experience in transportation planning or logistics.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in relevant software and systems (e.g., EBS, OTM).
Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
Ability to reflect a 8-5 PST working schedule
